Gerald Butler’s Mike Banning returns in Angel Has Fallen, possibly saves God

With a title like ANGEL HAS FALLEN – the third in the "HAS FALLEN" franchise – it better be about Gerald Butler's super Secret Service agent Mike Banning protecting God himself from a terrorist attack. Heck, that premise is only slightly less plausible than the plot of the first two films.

Alas, that is not to be. Instead, according to Deadline, ANGEL HAS FALLEN will be about:

"Mike Banning, who has spent his career keeping American presidents safe. This time, he’s the target. If his attackers can take down half of Washington D.C. with it, all the better. Among those at risk include the President, whose official Air Force One plane is code-named Angel."

I just read that entire synopsis in Don LaFontaine's voice, and it was glorious.

Now, I'm not the biggest fan of this franchise (I actually preferred WHITE HOUSE DOWN to OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN), since I feel it's all needlessly cheap and more than slightly racist (which, to be fair, is a staple of even good action flicks). Also it gets the one major rule of cheesy action movies wrong: the one-liners suck (you know, besides "Go back to fuckerheadistan!" in LONDON HAS FALLEN, which is just the right kind of stupid). I know the films have their fans, and more power to ya, I just hope you guys are more happy with this synposis than I am.

No firm release date has been set for the sequel, but production is slated to start early 2017.

So what say you, fellow JoBlo-ers? Yay or nay?
