Georgina Campbell joins SyFy’s Superman prequel series as Lyta Zod

Get ready to kneel before…Zod's grandmother? David Goyer's MAN OF STEEL prequel series has been in development for a number of years but now that SyFy has given Krypton a pilot order, things finally seem to be progressing. The first major role has now been cast as Deadline reports that Georgina Campbell (KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD) has landed a lead role in Krypton as Lyta Zod.

Set two generations before the destruction of Superman's home planet, Krypton will follow Superman’s grandfather Seg-El, whose House of El was ostracized and shamed, as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Georgina Campbell's Lyta Zod is a "member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general, Alura Zod. Lyta Zod serves as a cadet — and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El." A bit of Romeo & Juliet thing going on here it seems. Nothing about Krypton particularly interests me at this point, but if David Goyer and showrunner Damian Kindler are able to successfully expand on the world we briefly glimpsed in the beginning of MAN OF STEEL, I may just have to check it out.

Speaking of Superman, our next glimpse at the last son of Krypton will come in JUSTICE LEAGUE on November 17, 2017.
