While the HBO series GAME OF THRONES will be finished by 2019, there's no end in sight for original author George R.R. Martin and his SONG OF ICE AND FIRE series – the basis for GoT. Part of it is the fact that Martin is a methodical and slow writer, so it's probably best he's not rushing his magnum opus out to appease impatient fanboys. On the other hand, there's news like this shit:
My novel WHO FEARS DEATH has been optioned by @HBO & is now in early development as a TV series with George RR Martin as executive producer. pic.twitter.com/POF7Dj2hWP

Yeah, on top of working on a pilot for SyFy, he's also executive producing another fantasy show (albeit one he didn't write himself). However, here's what Martin had to say about this development:
As usual, however, the internet is blowing this story all out of proportion, at least in regards to my own participation,” he wrote. “I will be an Executive Producer on WHO FEARS DEATH but I will not be the Executive Produce, i.e. the showrunner. That’s an important distinction. Should we move forward, there will be a number of Executive Producers, and probably some Co-Executive Producers and Supervising Producers and Producers as well. This is television.
That's fair George. But to be also fair, you spent time writing on your blog instead of your book. Check and mate.
Meanwhile season 7 of GAME OF THRONES, based on George R.R. Martin's novels, will premiere on HBO July 16th, while his next SONG OF ICE AND FIRE novel WINDS OF WINTER will hit bookshelves who the fuck knows.
