George Miller clarifies “No more Mad Max” comment and talks Oscar noms

Earlier this week, George Miller had stated that he "won’t make more MAD MAX movies." That seemed a little off, considering he had been talking up a FURY ROAD sequel and/or Furiosa spin-off even before FURY ROAD hit theater screens. Well, it may put you at ease to know that Miller himself was a bit jumbled during that interview, and did NOT mean that he would never return to the MAD MAX universe again. Take a look at what he had to say to The Hollywood Reporter about it, as well as his comments regarding the 10 Oscar nominations.

Geroge Miller regarding his previous quote on being done with MAD MAX:

I was saying I didn’t want to do Mad Max right away. … I have a few other stories to tell. I wanted to do something small and fast. It got all very jumbled.

On the 10 Academy Award nominations FURY ROAD received:

The crew is responsible for making this movie, and I’m glad they’re being recognized in this way. I still haven’t had a chance to even look at the list. It’s great. I would never have thought this would have happened. It’s really nice to be invited to the party. It’s a really good feeling.

Some of you had guessed that the previous quote was taken slightly out of context and, thankfully, you were right. It's great to see FURY ROAD get some Academy recognition and I hope that clues Warner Bros. in on letting George Miller do whatever he wants with a sequel…when he's good and ready.
