Gemma Chan and Barry Keoghan in talks to join Marvel’s The Eternals

Production recently kicked off on Marvel's THE ETERNALS, but it seems that we may have several new additions to the cast. Variety has reported that Gemma Chan (CRAZY RICH ASIANS) is in negotiations to join THE ETERNALS, while Collider adds that Barry Keoghan (DUNKIRK) is in talks as well.

There's no word on which characters Gemma Chan or Barry Keoghan would play in the film, but Chan has previously played Minn-Erva in CAPTAIN MARVEL. Variety notes that it's not known whether or not she will be reprising that role for THE ETERNALS, but said that some sources have indicated that she could be playing a completely different character. On Twitter, THR's Borys Kit and Variety's Justin Kroll added that Chan's character will be one of, if not the, main leads of the film. I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Should Chan and Keoghan sign on the dotted line, they would join previously announced cast-members Angelina Jolie (Thena), Richard Madden (Ikaris), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Salma Hayek (Ajak), Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos), Lauren Ridloff (Makkari), Lia McHugh (Sprite), and Don Lee (Gilgamesh). Created by Jack Kirby, the comic series "is set millions of years in the past, when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals, along with the villainous Deviants. The two groups battled each other throughout history. The Eternals also warred with Greek, Roman and Norse deities before leaving Earth to explore the stars." THE ETERNALS is slated for a November 6, 2020 release.
