Whoa, did you know that "Game of Thrones" star Oona Chaplin is the great granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin? And the daughter of Geraldine Chaplin? I sure as hell didn't!
Anyway, the lovely Ms. Oona (seen above) has just been cast as the female lead in PURGATORIO, a Spanish psychological thriller from Apaches Entertainment. Word is the Barcelona-based distributor Film Factory Entertainment will put the flick up for auction at the European Film Market next year.
From feature first-timer Catalan Pau Teixidor (who helmed the splendid short LEYENDA), PURGATORIO:
Follows a young woman who does her neighbor the kind service of babysitting his son Daniel (Sergi Mendez) for the evening. And how does that neighbor show appreciation? By never returning. As Daniel’s behavior turns erratic and violent, he begins to insist there is another boy lurking around the house, one only he can see.
Sounds intriguing, especially when considering THE ORPHANAGE scribe Sergio G. Sanchez polished the script by Luis Moreno (LALOLA). Question is, is "Game of Thrones" popular enough to make the casual Oona Chaplin fan go out and see PURGATORIO? Will it fare better here in the states than overseas? Time will tell I guess.
