Across the run of GAME OF THRONES, there have many side characters who have graced the screen, but none have quite stolen their scenes, and our hearts, the way young Lyanna Mormont has since season six. The Lady of Bear Island, played by Bella Ramsey, has had a handful of scenes over the last two seasons and has owned every one, often standing up in a room full of older men and laying down the truth of a situation and bringing them all down a few pegs in the process. In fact, this is what she is going to miss most, telling The Cut that when the series ends, she will miss “the opportunity to stand up in front of a load of grown men and shame them.”

Indeed, she has a sharp tongue and has no problem speaking her mind to even the most highborn characters. In the season premiere, she approached Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and questioned his decision-making, saying, “You left Winterfell a king and came back a…I don’t know what you are anymore.”
It’s this kind of strength Ramsey admires in other characters on the show as well, and during the interview, she expressed that Arya (Maisie Williams) was perhaps her favorite character. As well, she has a fondness for Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie):
“They’re kind of kindred spirits [Brienne and Lyanna]. They’re both these females who are sticking up for what they believe in and proving that girls can be just as strong as boys, women can be just as strong as men.”

She perhaps made her most quotable stand when, after giving Ramsey Bolton the stink eye during the initial meeting between his and Snow’s men before the Battle of the Bastards, she told Lord Glover “I don’t plan on knitting by the fire while men fight for me.” She lives up to that promise, apparently, as we've seen in promo images for episode two of the season (above), Lyanna will be suiting up for the big battle.
We're only one episode into the final season, and Lyanna will likely be back for at least one more episode this weekend. Beyond that, I know I'm not alone in hoping that everything turns out well for her. In such a short amount of time she's carved out her own little fanbase, and surely the finale would be far grimmer if she doesn't make it to the end.
GAME OF THRONES' final season continues this Sunday.
