Gal Gadot Wonder Woman 2017

Although Warner Bros. haven't yet knocked it out of the park with any of their films in the quickly growing DCEU, they still have plenty of opportunities to do so. The studio has many movies in various stages of development, including JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE FLASH, AQUAMAN, THE BATMAN, CYBORG, GREEN LANTERN CORPS and a variety of others, but the next DC flick to be presented to us will be WONDER WOMAN. Everything we've seen from the Patty Jenkins flick so far has kept my interest and Gal Gadot's portrayal of the Amazonian princess in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE wound up being one of the highlights of that film. Per Empire, a new image from the upcoming film has been released which features Diana Prince racing through a World War I battlefield.

Patty Jenkins also revealed to Empire why World War I was selected as the setting for Wonder Woman's first standalone movie, saying that her approach was to "focus on telling the story of mechanized war and how that would look to a god visiting our world for the first time." Jenkins added that she wanted "the audience to understand the horrors that a war on this scale makes possible and how shocking that would be to someone who comes with a strong sense of honour and justice. She doesn't realize yet just how senselessly dark the world can be."

WONDER WOMAN is set for a June 2, 2017 release.
