Gal Gadot Wonder Woman Ruin

After the enormous success of Patty Jenkins' WONDER WOMAN, it was only natural that Warner Bros. would get the ball rolling on a sequel which would see Gal Gadot reprise her role of the Amazon warrior princess, but, before Gadot begins work on the sequel, she may first tackle another tale of a world at war, albeit, one with significantly fewer superheros.

Deadline reports that Gal Gadot is currently in negotiations to star in RUIN, a revenge-thriller set at the close of the second World War which follows a nameless ex-Nazi captain who navigates the ruins of post-WWII Germany. Determined to atone for his crimes during the war, he hunts down the surviving members of his former SS Death Squad. It's not known which role Gal Gadot would play, but THR adds that Christian Bale is "sitting on the offer to play the captain," but that no negotiations have begun as yet. It's hoped that production on RUIN, which is to be directed by Justin Kurzel (ASSASSIN'S CREED), will get underway early 2018, and, if Gal Gadot does sign on, this would give her another project to sink her teeth into before returning for the WONDER WOMAN sequel.

We still don't know all that much about where the upcoming sequel will take Wonder Woman, but Patty Jenkins has said that she'd like the sequel to take place in America during the Cold War. Patty Jenkins has also teased that WONDER WOMAN 2 will finally showcase the "full-blown" Wonder Woman.

The greatest thing about making this movie was the fact that you’re really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie. The most exciting thing about [the sequel] is literally seeing her loose in the world now, living those classic stories. Here’s Wonder Woman, and what can she do? It should be a totally different movie, but a grand and now full-blown Wonder Woman in the world.

WONDER WOMAN 2 is already slated for a December 13, 2019 release.
