This Friday will see a release that looks to provide some counter-programming in this month most spoopy. I'm, of course, referring to Greg Mottola's KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES. If the name sounds familiar, that's because he's the director who delivered SUPERBAD and PAUL, among other flicks. This films follows a suburban couple (Zach Galifianakis & Isla Fisher) who becomes embroiled in an international espionage plot when they discover that their seemingly perfect new neighbors (Jon Hamm & Gal Gadot) are government spies. I delivered an on-set report about this film a while back, but there was one very important piece of info I wasn't allowed to share with you…until now. That may or may not involve a scene featuring Isla Fisher making out with Gal Gadot!
Isla Fisher on kissing Gal Gadot:
It was my first kiss of that kind, on camera, I must admit. It's very technical because She's got lipstick, I got lipstick and we had to keep getting the lipstick off each other . . . it was silly. It was fun. The joke should be that I have to stand on the sofa to kiss her because I am obviously the size of a circus freak [and] she is so tall. This is Karen's moment where the hero rises to challenge. I steal the knife and I have to find a way of giving it to Gal. It's motivated by a "real event". Nothing to do with wanting a moment in the trailer!
Gal on kissing the short Isla Fisher:
Yeah, I threw my back. No, it was a very nice experience. Both of us was very nervous before, but it was fun. She's a redhead! They can get very aggressive! And now she has babies so she has real . . . *motions towards chest* It was very enjoyable!
I can tell you first-hand that watching Isla Fisher kiss Gadot again and again was an experience I won't soon forget. The cast for this one was a lot of fun to hang out with and I'm hoping that we have a nice, little sleeper on our hands come this Friday. I also guarantee you that once you see Jon Hamm in this, you won't be able to think about a live-action Archer movie without him as the lead. He's THAT good!
KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES opens in theaters this Friday!
