A STAR IS BORN has been remade twice since the original movie made its debut in 1937 (one in 1954 and another in 1976), and now a new version is coming with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, with the movie also acting as Cooper’s directorial debut. If that all makes you do a triple take, then there’s no better way for you to accept the reality of it all than by you taking a look at the first image from the movie, featuring Gaga and Cooper making sweet music together.
Take a look:
Focusing on world of country music, STAR tells the story of Jackson Maine (Cooper) who helps a younger talent named Ally (Gaga) on her rise to fame. The two begin a passionate love affair, only for Maine to see his dying star eclipsed by her shining one along the way. The film is shooting at Coachella this week for the sake of capturing some performance scenes at what will be a country concert.
It was also announced that Gaga will be credited on this by her given name, Stefani Germanotta. As well, supporting roles have been given to Andrew Dice Clay and Sam Elliott, and chances are Clay will be playing a character who wears sunglasses, and Elliot will have the best goddamned mustache in all the land.
The tale of fame being lost and found is as old as show business itself, so at the very least STAR will tell an accessible story that audiences can get behind. Other than that there’s a lot this movie has to prove, mainly Cooper’s directing skills and Gaga’s leading capabilities. If either of them falters it may risk them ever getting to do it on such a scale again. Here’s to their success! How much you wanna bet Cooper sounds like Chris Kyle from AMERICAN SNIPER in this?
A STAR IS BORN arrives September 28, and catch Cooper as Rocket in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2. on May 5.
