FX’s Legion Season 2 set for April release, Singer removed from credits

During FX's turn on the Television Critics Association press tour, LEGION creator Noah Hawley, who was joined on stage by the cast of the Marvel-inspired series, announced that the program's second season would be making its FX debut in April of this year. While that's a tad later into 2018 than some fans would like, I think it feels good to have an official release window locked and loaded for what's arguably Marvel's best television series to date.

When LEGION made its Season 1 debut during February of last year, I found myself to be positively blown away by the show's startling attention to its source material, as well as the mutant drama's intensely psychedelic presentation. For my money, the show introduced a terrifying villain, included an enchanting relationship drama, and delivered a musical number as performed by Aubrey Plaza's Lenny Busker that brought the house down. Honestly, after such a powehouse display of talent from all invovled with LEGION, I've no reason to doubt that we're in for even more X-Men-related madness when the show makes its triumphant return this Spring.

For those of you who've yet to experience the show, LEGION focuses on an omega-level mutant named David Haller (Dan Stevens). After being diagnosed as a schizophrenic and sent to a bizarre hospital retreat for his "illness," David falls in with a group of mutant renegades who work together to keep his abilities under control before the nightmare creature living in David's mind can destroy reality as they know it.

When last we left David and his friends, actually … I'm not going to spoil that for you. You should really check the show out and experience all the cerebral madness for yourself.

In more LEGION-related news, it's now being reported that X-Men helmer Bryan Singer has been removed as the show's executive producer, after Singer himself asked to have his name removed from the project. According to sources, during the TCA panel, Noah Hawley told Deadline Hollywood that "Bryan asked to take his name off the show, so we have done that." Singer reportedly asked FX to strike his name from the show's billing after allegations of sexual misconduct were recently set against him in the public eye. Currently, Singer is facing a lawsuit based on a claim that the long-time X-Men filmmaker sexually assaulted another individual.

“Very early on in the conception of the show, I met him a couple of times,” Hawley told Deadline. “He was interested in directing the pilot, but once I stepped in to direct, I haven’t spoken to him since that moment. Really, he was a name on the screen,” Hawley added.

Currently, Fox Entertainment is "looking into" Singer's future involvement as an executive producer on Marvel's new mutant-related series THE GIFTED. Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn has stated that they're taking the allegations made against Singer "very seriously," though the fact that Singet directed the pilot for THE GIFTED places him in a unique position, as that act guarantees him an executive producer credit on the show.

Welp, there you have it, True Believers! For me, the big takeaway of all these developments is that we're getting another glorious chapter of LEGION, and Noah Hawley is still spearheading the wildly weird sophomore season. I'll be there with bells on to check it out, as I can't wait to see what's next for David and all his friends. I expect more outrageous dance numbers and mind-blowing visuals, Noah! Make us all proud, man! I believe in you!
