FX has brought some chilling news to today's portion of the Winter TCA press tour by announcing that AMERICAN HORROR STORY has been renewed for three more seasons! To be clear, this move is in addition to the show's tenth season that is set to air later this year. As your attorney I advise you to take full advantage of a sale for brown pants, because the Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk-created anthology series is poised to scare you shitless for years to come.
As you're likely to be aware, AMERICAN HORROR STORY is an anthology series that explores a different horror theme with the passing of each season. In the past, AHS has delved head-long into the haunted house, slasher, corrupted circus, and witches coven sub-genres, as well as several others. While we've yet to learn of what the tenth installment will bring, Murphy and Falchuk have teased an interest in bringing "fan favorite" characters back for another fright-filled chapter – one that could involve aliens as well as a trip to outer space. “I think that at the heart of it, it’s always about Americana,” Murphy told Deadline in a previous interview when asked about what the tenth season will entail.
“Ryan and Brad are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX’s highest-rated series,” said John Landgraf, Chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions. “We are grateful to them and Dana Walden and our studio partners for committing to another three years. AHS has showcased a wealth of award winning actors since day one and we appreciate the contributions of everyone, including Ryan, Brad and fellow executive producers Tim Minear, James Wong, Alexis Martin Woodall and Bradley Buecker, the writers, directors, cast and crew for each new, unforgettable installment of American Horror Story.”
