Futurama revival comes to its senses and welcomes John DiMaggio back as Bender

Hulu can finally remove that shiny metal ass from their mouths as John DiMaggio has officially signed on to voice Bender in the upcoming Futurama revival.

When it was announced last month that Futurama would be returning (yet again), fans were more than a little upset to learn that John DiMaggio would not be returning to voice Bender. The actor had obviously been asked to return along with the rest of the cast but turned down the offer as he felt that everyone involved with the series deserved more. Thankfully, it seems that Hulu and 20th Television Animation have come to an agreement with John DiMaggio and everyone’s favourite foul-mouthed robot will grace our screens once again.

I’M BACK, BABY! So damn grateful for the love and support of fans and colleagues alike during this whole time (especially my wife, Kate), and I cannot wait to get back to work with my ‘Futurama’ family,” John DiMaggio said in a statement. “#Bendergate is officially over, so put it on the back of a shelf behind Xmas decorations, or maybe in that kitchen drawer with all of the other crap you put in there like old unusable crazy glue, or maybe even put it in a jar you save farts in. Whatever floats your boat, I don’t care, you get the picture. I’M BACK, BABY! BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS!” With Billy West, Katey Sagel, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, David Herman, and now John DiMaggio all returning for more Futurama, the gang is officially back together. Praise, Robot Jesus.

From the moment John DiMaggio auditioned last century, we knew we had our Bender,” series creator Matt Groening said. “So congrats to everyone at ‘Futurama.’ We’re all back, baby!” Futurama executive producer David X. Cohen added, “John DiMaggio may be a great robot, but he’s also a great human being. Not many people or machines can say that. For the fourth time, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thrill to be back with our entire original cast and the phenomenal animators of Rough Draft Studios!” Hulu has ordered 20 episodes of this latest resurrection of Futurama which is expected to debut in 2023.

Are you all excited John DiMaggio is on for the Futurama revival?
