Fringe creators Orci and Kurtzman pitch a modern day Sleepy Hollow television series

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are riding high on a creative success streak that only rivals that of their frequent collaborator, JJ Abrams. Between the TRANSFORMERS and STAR TREK films, the duo have also been responsible for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III, COWBOYS & ALIENS, THE LEGEND OF ZORRO, the upcoming ENDER’S GAME, VAN HELSING and MUMMY reboots, and the television series FRINGE and HAWAII FIVE-0.

Orci and Kurtzman look to be getting back to television with their pitch for a new television series inspired by the legend of the headless horseman. The series will be updated to the modern day and follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s local female sheriff to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil.

Between ONCE UPON A TIME, GRIMM, MOCKINGBIRD LANE, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, and THE WALKING DEAD, horror seems to be all the rage for network and cable series. Since this project is still in the pitch stage, there is no guarantee it will be picked up as a series, but with Orci and Kurtzman’s track record, it probably will.

The duo have already enlisted director Len Wiseman (TOTAL RECALL) to direct the pilot. Wiseman had the same duties on the pilot for HAWAII FIVE-0.

What do you think of a modernized take on the Sleepy Hollow story?
