A week ago, FRIGHT NIGHT writer/director Tom Holland revealed that a comic book titled TOM HOLLAND'S FRIGHT NIGHT: THE PETER VINCENT CHRONICLES would be coming soon… and now it's here, available through Holland's own website Terror Time.
As of this writing, there are 486 copies of issue #0 of THE PETER VINCENT CHRONICLES in stock. Copies can be purchased for $9.99.
A 24 page original comic book based on a story by Holland, issue #0 was scripted and edited by Ben Meares, with Riley Schmitz handling the illustration. The book focuses on
the adventures of Peter Vincent (originally played by Roddy McDowall) immediately following the events of the first film, and serves as a bridge into future FRIGHT NIGHT comic books.
Holland says,
It's all I could hope for. A great continuation of the original. Roddy would be proud to know his creation was continuing his journey in such high (and bloody) style. Ben Meares's story is a winner and Riley Schmitz's artwork captures the FRIGHT NIGHT experience for today's fans. Onward, with THE PETER VINCENT CHRONICLES!"
Meares adds,
My goal here was to delve deeper into Peter as a character, and present him with a fresh set of challenges, personal and supernatural, to face off against. Being able to do so with the blessing from the film’s creator is quite simply a dream come true."
With the artwork, Schmitz's mission is to capture the feel of the original FRIGHT NIGHT in comic book form, while also trying something new.
This sounds like a fun project to me. If you agree, head over to Terror Time and pick up a copy while they last.
