The Dreamworks remake (previously at Screen Gems) will be penned by TV veteran Marti Noxon, a writer-producer for “Mad Men” and former creative regular on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”, which gives her plenty of cred for the material.
The original flick involved a young man who is (rightfully) convinced his new neighbor is a vampire. It featured a cast that went on to stuff like “Herman’s Head,” “Married with Children” and porn, and was followed by a less-succesful sequel.
The new version will reportedly keep the same horror-comedy tone, but will likely “upgrade” the FX with tons of CGI.
