Fright Night 2 being written by original screenwriter Tom Holland!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In a recent interview with SYFY Wire, screenwriter Tom Holland (no relation to the actor) – while talking about the impact of his original script for the 1985 vampire cult classic FRIGHT NIGHT – let slip that he's been hard at work writing a sequel titiled FRIGHT NIGHT 2: RESURRECTION! Here's the pertinent excerpt from the interview:

I’m still trying, I’m writing a sequel to Fright Night now… I’m calling it Fright Night 2: Resurrection. Well, it’s the only way to protect myself: If you wanna see something done right, do it yourself…Of course, Charlie’s back, and so is Evil Ed. I’m bringing back everybody I can. I’m calling it Resurrection because we’ve got to resurrect Billy Cole and Jerry Dandridge. And now I’ll say no more.

Nonetheless, the rest of the interview is still worth checking out, as Holland chronicles the inspiration for the original film, the behind-the-scenes shenanigans, and the aforementioned impact its had at the horror zeitgeist at large. It's worth the read!

So what do you guys think? Fans of the original film? If so, would you be done for a 35 years later sequel? Either way, sound off below!

Meanwhile, here's the official synopsis:

Teenage Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) is a horror-film junkie, so it's no surprise that, when a reclusive new neighbor named Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon) moves next-door, Brewster becomes convinced he is a vampire. It's also no surprise when nobody believes him. However, after strange events begin to occur, Charlie has no choice but to turn to the only person who could possibly help: washed-up television vampire killer Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall).
