The long-awaited Friends reunion that has been set up at HBO Max since before the service even launched is finally going to happen, at least according to one of the comedy series' stars, Matthew Perry.
Perry took to Twitter and tweeted that he and his fellow Friends co-stars will be back to continue working on the reunion early next year, March to be in fact. The cast had been gearing up to film the reunion back in August but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can check out Perry's tweet below:
HBO MAX set up the unscripted reunion special to celebrate its acquisition of the Friends library for its streaming platform. The special will reunite Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc on the show's original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank. The actors are executive producing the special with Friends creators Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane while Ben Winston has been tapped to direct.
I know so many friends that have been dying for this to finally happen so I'm sure this news will be a highlight of their day along with the legion of fans that still binge Friends on a regular basis. It's still one of the biggest sitcoms in syndication and has been a solid streaming player since its run on Netflix and now exclusively on HBO MAX.
