Friday the 13th: The Game videos show a bad decision and familiar location

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Gun Media, the game developers behind the upcoming and highly anticipated Friday the 13th: The Game, had a panel at this past weekend's PAX East convention, and while there unveiled two new videos from the game that are sure to raise fans' hype level even higher.

First up is captured gameplay footage from the perspective of a counselor who chose a very poor hiding place while being pursued by the FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD version of iconic slasher Jason Voorhees.

The second video contains a very pleasant surprise. It's a flythrough of a playable map that will be very familiar to FRIDAY THE 13TH fans – the Higgins Haven cabin from FRIDAY THE 13TH PART III. The addition of the Higgins Haven map had been a Kickstarter stretch goal that wasn't reached, but the developers have decided to put it in the game anyway. Since PART III is my favorite film in the series, I'm very glad to see that I'll be able to explore its setting while playing the game. For good measure, the location video also ends with a kill.

Kane Hodder performed the motion capture for the game's Jason Voorhees. Franchise composer Harry Manfredini has provided the music for the game, which also features kills designed by Tom Savini. The gameplay is expected to begin in October 2016.
