Last year, the 1980 classic Friday the 13th got a steelbook Blu-ray release (pick it up HERE) to celebrate the film's 40th anniversary. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Friday the 13th Part 2 – and to mark the occasion, the sequel is getting a steelbook Blu-ray release as well. The street date is March 23rd, and copies can be pre-ordered at THIS LINK.
It should be noted, however, that this disc will not include the uncut gore footage that was in the Friday the 13th box set Scream Factory released last year. (That set can still be purchased HERE.)
Directed by Steve Miner from a screenplay by Ron Kurz, Friday the 13th Part 2 has the following synopsis:
Five years after the massacre at Camp Crystal Lake, the nerve-wracking legend of Jason Voorhees and his diabolical mother lives on. Despite ominous warnings from the locals to stay away from ‘Camp Blood,’ a group of counselors at a nearby summer camp decide to explore the area where seven people were brutally slaughtered. All too soon, they encounter horrors of their own and the murders begin again.
Amy Steel, John Furey, Stu Charno, Lauren-Marie Taylor, Marta Kober, Tom McBride, Bill Randolph, Kirsten Baker, Russell Todd, Walt Gorney, and Jack Marks star, with cameos by Adrienne King and Betsy Palmer, and Steve "Dash" Daskewisz as Jason Voorhees – who had not yet obtained his iconic hockey mask.
This Blu-ray will include the following extras, which have been on previous releases:
– Inside “Crystal Lake Memories”
– Friday’s Legacy: Horror Conventions
– Lost Tales from Camp Blood – Part II
– Jason Forever
– Original Theatrical Trailer
I already own multiple copies of this movie, so I'm probably going to pass on this particular release, but I know there are collectors out there who will gladly put this steelbook on their shelves.
