Friday the 13th Killer 40th Anniversary Blu-ray Steelbook coming this May

Rated R for strong horror violence, disturbing images, brief sexuality and nudity, and language, FRIDAY THE 13TH is one of the most influential horror movies of all time. And today we learned that the powers that be over at Paramount Home Entertainment will be bringing us the FRIDAY THE 13TH 40th Anniversary Blu-ray Steelbook (pre-order HERE) this May!

Originally released on May 9, 1980, FRIDAY THE 13TH captured audiences’ imaginations and permeated our collective psyche. The film spawned one of the longest-running and most successful horror franchises in film history with 11 subsequent movies and, 40 years later, the iconic machete-wielding killer continues to haunt, fascinate and terrify new generations.

The FRIDAY THE 13TH Limited Edition Blu-ray Steelbook features artwork from the original movie poster and includes the uncut, unrated version of the film, as well as access to a digital copy of the original theatrical version. Plus, plunge deeper into the film with previously released bonus content including commentary, interviews with cast and crew, and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

FRIDAY THE 13TH follows

Crystal Lake's history of murder doesn't deter counselors from setting up a summer camp in the woodsy area. Superstitious locals warn against it, but the fresh-faced young people — Jack (Kevin Bacon), Alice (Adrienne King), Bill (Harry Crosby), Marcie (Jeannine Taylor) and Ned (Mark Nelson) — pay little heed to the old-timers. Then they find themselves stalked by a brutal killer. As they're slashed, shot and stabbed, the counselors struggle to stay alive against a merciless opponent.

It was produced & directed by Sean S. Cunningham from a script by Victor Miller. It stars Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Harry Crosby, Laurie Bartram, Mark Nelson, Jeannine Taylor, Robbi Morgan, and Kevin Bacon. FRIDAY THE 13TH Killer 40th Anniversary Blu-ray Steelbook hits May 5, 2020.
