Nothing says "we probably should have planned this out more" than pushing a film's premiere back for the third time. That's exactly what Paramount Pictures has just done with the next installment of the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise. The film was originally set for a March 13, 2015 release, then pushed back to November 16, 2015, pushed back yet again to May 13, 2016, and now the studio finally seems to have settled on a January 13, 2017 release. We'll see how long that last.
Story details are still unknown, although it's a safe bet to say that Jason Voorhees will slaughter a handful of sexually promiscuous teens, but we do know that the upcoming film will NOT be using the found-footage concept that sent many fans into a frenzy. Producer Brad Fuller previously confirmed that the idea had been dropped by saying "we kind of jettisoned that whole notion and we had to start over. We’re in the latter phases of that starting over and hopefully we’re getting a script in the next month or two, and we’ll go back to Crystal Lake.”
We already knew that RINGS, the third installment of THE RING franchise, had been delayed, but now Paramount has finally given the film a new release date. The film had previously been set for a November 13, 2015 release but will now occupy April 1, 2016. RINGS will take place thirteen years after THE RING and stars Johnny Galecki, as "a handsome, pleasure-seeking professor who mentors and helps boyfriend and girlfriend duo Holt (Alex Roe) and Julia (Matilda Lutz)," and will be directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez.
Which film are you looking forward to more?
