In an effort to make his upcoming WATCHMEN adaptation a more complete experience, director Zack Snyder announced a little while ago that the melancholic pirate comic within Alan Moore’s seminal graphic novel, “Tales of the Black Freighter”, would also be adapted into an animated film that would eventually be released on a stand alone DVD. So far, however, we haven’t heard anything beyond the fact that it’ll be made. In Rich Johnston’s recent “Lying in the Gutters” column over at “Comic Book Resources”, however, he announced that Mike Smith and Danny DelPurgatorio, who’ve done graphic design work on MR. MAGORIUM’S WONDER EMPORIUM, will be directing the story of a man’s blood-soaked journey to rescue his family from a supernaturally homicidal pirate ship. Read the rest of Johnston’s column over HERE.
