“Counting Crows” frontman Adam Duritz and “on the brink of breaking out big time if only one of their funny but under-appreciated films hit it big” comedy troupe “Broken Lizard” will be teaming up for the comedy FREELOADERS. The film centers on five guys and a girl whose life mooching off a big time rock star comes to an end when the rock star decides to sell the house. Dan Rosen wrote the screenplay with “Gigolo Aunts” lead singer Dave Gibbs. Rosen is set to direct with Duritz and the “Broken Lizard” boys – who include Erik Stolhanske, Paul Soter, Steve Lemme, Kevin Heffernan, Jay Chandrasekhar – producing. The film is not part of “Broken Lizard’s” overall deal with Warner Bros. so it’ll be independently financed. Production is scheduled to get underway in mid-January. “Broken Lizard” is currently putting the finishing touches on THE SLAMMIN’ SALMON.
