There has been such a glut of horror series on TV this season, so it only makes sense that they'll start being picked off one by one until only the best remain. The most recent series to get the axe is Freeform's Dead of Summer, a supernatural summer camp series that ran for 10 episodes.
I don't have a personal opinion on this one because I never caught the show, but it seems like most people are in my boat. Dead of Summer bowed out on August 30th with a scant 410,000 viewers.
Dead of Summer was set in:
the late 1980s. School is out for the summer and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Stillwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses — and first kills. Stillwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.
The cast included Elizabeth Mitchell, Elizabeth Lail, Mark Indelicato, Paulina Singer, Ronen Rubenstein, Zelda Williams, Alberto Frezza, Eli Goree, Zachary Gordon, and Tony Todd.
