Gender inequality is front and center in the trailer for Free the Nipple

You have to appreciate a title that gets to the point (so to peak). If you're not familiar with the movement of the same name, here's some facts regarding the deal with female breast (or specifically, nipple) exposure: Today, in the USA it is ILLEGAL for a woman to be topless in 37 of the United States of America in some states that includes breastfeeding. In New York City, in 1992 it became LEGAL for women to be topless in public, but the NYPD continued to arrest women, so a group took to the streets with cameras and a cast to fight these Puritanical injustices first hand. By the end the production, Free The Nipple morphed into a "real life" revolution that transcended the bounds of mere entertainment. Now the trailer that documents the experience is here:

The controversy of censorship over the female body is one that carries brilliantly over to American films, due to the MPAA's strict regulations on what can be shown in a PG-13 movie in regards to violence versus nudity. Even on television, violence is more widely accepted as the lesser of the two evils, because God forbid a child sees a part of the human body in a non-sexual way. The larger issue of course is gender inequality stretching into multiple facets of our society, but sometimes in order to address these issues you have to start small. No smaller start than the nipple, right? You can check out more information on the movement here.

FREE THE NIPPLE will see a VOD and limited theatrical release on December 12.
