Free Guy was watched by 2.5 million U.S. households in its first five days of streaming

Free Guy proved to bit a critical and financial hit for 20th Century Studios when it was released last summer and now it appears it’s continuing that winning streak on streaming.

According to Samba TV, Free Guy was watched by 2.5 million U.S. households in its first five days of streaming on Disney+ and HBO Max. This comes after a fantastic box office run for the film which was a win for original concepts on the big screen and moviegoing during the uncertainty of the pandemic. Free Guy grossed $121.6 million domestically and $331.5 million worldwide. You can check out the Samba TV post below!

In Free Guy Ryan Reynolds stars along with Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rey Howery, and Taika Waititi. In the film, A bank teller discovers that he’s actually an NPC inside a brutal, open-world video game. Free Guy hit the big screen after a year-long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney acquired Free Guy after the Fox/Disney merger but they saw something of value in the film which is why they didn’t simply dump it on a random weekend and hoped for the best. The end result was a solid 82% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and becoming the first Original IP of the pandemic to cross $300 million globally. Sometimes original ideas do win.
