Free Guy Death on the Nile Disney release

With the exception of Christopher Nolan's TENET, theaters have been devoid of blockbusters since mid-March, and one by one, studios have pushed their remaining films into 2021 and beyond, but there are a few stragglers who are stubbornly hanging on. Well, two of the very few films currently on the 2020 slate have jumped ship as it's been announced that FREE GUY and DEATH ON THE NILE have been removed from the calendar.

FREE GUY was slated to hit theaters on December 11, 2020, followed by DEATH ON THE NILE on December 18, 2020, but both of the 20th Century Studios films have been delayed by Disney, who now owns the studio. It remains to be seen when the films will now be released as Disney hasn't given them a new release date just yet. Stay tuned. This leaves WONDER WOMAN 1984 as the biggest film still currently slated to hit theaters this year, but I would imagine that it won't be long before we hear that Warner Bros. have pushed the film back yet again. As of late last month, Warner Bros. said that they were still committed to seeing WONDER WOMAN 1984 in theaters on Christmas Day, but that they have been watching conditions in the U.S. very closely before making their final call. "It really is about how the U.S. continues to open, and whether there are any other surges," Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff said. "We’ve got a little bit of time to figure that out."

Shawn Levy's FREE GUY stars Ryan Reynolds as Guy, an NPC working as a bank teller who becomes aware that his entire world is a video-game. As for Kenneth Branagh's DEATH ON THE NILE, the sequel to MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS will once again find the director pulling double duty as he also stars a famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who is now tasked with solving a murder when one of the passengers is killed on the S.S. Karnak. We'll let you know when Disney plans on releasing these films as soon as they announce it.
