CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER was primarily focused on Cap fighting his old buddy turned assassin and the return of HYDRA, but the seeds were also planted for future foe Crossbones. In THE WINTER SOLDIER, he was known as Brock Rumlow and Frank Grillo played the character as a dedicated HYDRA agent out to kill Steve Rogers. At the end of that film, we see Rumlow’s body being treated by doctors, alluding to his return in a future film. Looks like that is going to be CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Frank Grillo teased he was recently contact by Marvel about returning for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and is having a body scan done to prepare his costumes.
“He’s a badass,” Grillo said with a smile. “He is just vicious. I like the idea that it’s no holds barred. I was 15 pounds bigger when I did Cap 2, and I’ll put another 15 pounds on to do Cap 3. I love the physicality. It changes the way you look; it changes the way you feel. We all know what Crossbones represents in his world, so when they called me and said we gotta do the body scan, I was like ‘Okay!’”
How much screen time Crossbones gets in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR has yet to be determined as the blockbuster film is already set to see the showdown between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark as well as the return of The Winter Soldier and the debut of Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). Hopefully The Russos have something special coming our way.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
