Director Dimitri Logothetis's sci-fi martial arts film JIU JITSU was already a must-see from the moment it was announced that Nicolas Cage and Alain Moussi were going to be starring in the story of jiu jitsu experts fighting aliens. Now my anticipation and excitement for this project has been boosted even higher by a new casting announcement.
Cage and Moussi are being joined in the cast by Frank Grillo (pictured above), Tony Jaa, Rick Yune, Marie Avgeropoulos, and Juju Chan.
With that cast and its ridiculous story, JIU JITSU has a shot at being an awesome movie.
Based on a comic book Logothetis wrote with Jim McGrath (you can get a copy on Amazon), the film is going to follow
Jake (Moussi), a war veteran and master jiu jitsu fighter who belongs to an ancient order that for thousands of years has battled an alien invader every six years to determine the fate of mankind.
When Jake, injured and suffering from amnesia after an alien assault, refuses to fight the invader, he is rescued by Wylie (Cage) and a team of jiu jitsu fighters who must help him recover his memory and regain his strength to band together and defeat the invader.
I don't think mankind has anything to worry about with this bunch protecting us.
Produced by Logothetis and Martin Barab, JIU JITSU is scheduled to being filming later this month.
