Fox wins battle over Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter!

Alright, it’s a done deal. After a hot battle between Universal, Summit, Sony and Paramount, Twentieth-Century has just secured a huge deal to adapt the hit novel ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER. From what’s been said it seems Tim Burton and Tim Bekmambetov raised their own money to see this puppy get the big screen treatment which basically makes it “the hottest project in Hollywood” right now. You guys agree? One thing’s certain: whenever filmmakers tend to put their heart and soul into a project, it usually turns out pretty good.

Deadline writes that Fox secured the rights to a 3D re-imagining of Lincoln’s life that depicts the 16th President as an axe-throwing, highly accomplished killer of vampires, an obsession of his since those bloodsuckers supposedly took the life of his mother. Taking revenge, Lincoln wreaks havoc on the vampires and their slave-owning protectors. Only in Hollywood would such wild fantasy with the reputation of one of America’s greatest Presidents be in such demand. Fox wanted the project so badly that when the filmmakers came onto the lot, the studio had bloody axes and bloody footprints strewn about and arranged for a bugle player in a Confederate uniform playing “Taps” to accompany them to the meeting with studio executives.

WME Entertainment made the deal, and production is set to begin next March. This will be Bekmambetov’s first directing gig since the hit Angelina Jolie-James McAvoy pic Wanted. Burton will produce.

So how about it? Good news to begin the week off? With a hot concept like this there’s going to be a line of A-List performers just waiting to take on the roles of the book. Any predictions on who gets what? Strike down below and let us know!
