Filmmaker Matthew Vaughn has a bunch of projects set up at Fox, and now you can add another one to the list. THR is reporting the studio will develop Mark Millar's Superior comic for the big screen, with Matthew Vaughn producing. Vaughn purchased the rights to the comic back in 2011.
Mark Millar's comic follows a boy with multiple sclerosis, who transforms into a Superman like character named Superior after an alien monkey grants him one wish. But of course, there's a catch.
Simon Pooni, an angry, bitter 12-year-old boy suffering from multiple sclerosis, idolizes superheroes, particularly Superior, a Superman analogue. An alien monkey named Ormon appears at Simon's bedside, informing the boy that of all the people on Earth, he has been granted the honor of being bestowed a single magic wish. Simon is then transformed into Superior. After playing the role of Superior for a week, he learns that Ormon is actually a demon incarnate, and he must sell his soul to the devil in order to remain as Superior.
Matthew Vaughn directed 2011's X-MEN: FIRST CLASS for Fox, and is one of the producers for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Vaughn is also producing Josh Trank's THE FANTASTIC FOUR reboot, and directed the upcoming THE SECRET SERVICE for the studio, another Mark Millar adaption.
Matthew Vaughn's THE SECRET SERVICE stars Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Michael Caine, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jack Davenport, and will hit theaters on October 24th, 2014.
