When Sylvester Stallone introduced the world to THE EXPENDABLES, the idea was to assemble the biggest and best action film stars and unite them . . . with lots of guns. The results of the three films so far have been decidedly mixed, and while sequels are in various stages of development, it looks like the next step will be bringing this template to television. Fox will be developing an Expendables TV show with Stallone himself producing alongside series producer Avi Lerner. According the Deadline, the series is being described as a "fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist."
No one's approached to star yet, but I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to round up some of the top leading folks of TV for this premise. The show obviously can't compete with the films in terms of budget but perhaps they can cook up something equally fun, taking advantage of the weekly format. Television shows are becoming more sophisticated by the year so I'm sure Stallone and crew can wrangle up some impressive names for this roster, with Sly making appearances every now and again.
Any chance we can get Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton in on this?
