Back in January it was reported that FOX was considering bringing back The X-Files, and now TV Wise has learned the network is "close to giving an official green-light" to a new season of the sci-fi series. According to the site's sources, FOX "has settled on a 'short-stack' order for the revival" and it will more than likely be less than ten episodes. Sources also say the network "is aiming to make a big announcement just ahead of their upfront presentation in New York City this coming May."
It's not a done deal yet, but stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are expected to return for the new run, and if FOX is able to work around their schedules production on it could start as early as this summer. Creator Chris Carter will write and direct the new episodes, and will also serve as executive produce.
So it looks like a limited-run revival of The X-Files may actually happen. What would you like to see in the new episodes? Storylines from the previous seasons resolved? Mulder and Scully completely ignoring the events from THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE? Sound off below!
