Today, news has rolled in that four actors on The Walking Dead have been promoted to series regulars for season 7. So, why does this matter? Well, being upgraded from a guest star to a series regular means they have at least a decent chance of surviving to see the season finale, although with this show you never really can tell.
The four actors who are being promoted are Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the notorious and brutal Negan, Xander Berkeley as Gregory, the leader of the Hilltop Colony, Austin Amelio as Dwight, a high-ranking member of the villainous Survivors, and Tom Payne as Paul Rovia, a recruiter for Hilltop. Good luck, fellas, and may the fittest survive to see season 8!
They join the ranks of series regulars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James, Sonequa Martin-Green, Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Austin Nichols, bringing the total number up to 20! Something tells me we'll be shaving some of that down this season.
The Walking Dead returns this October on AMC.
