This news regarding A&E’s prequel series “Bates Motel” will strike some as awesome, some as dismal. Depends on what you thought of “Lost.”
Carlton Cuse, who along with Damon Lindelof acted as the showrunner for the frustrating/enthralling ABC series for many years, will executive produce and “oversee” “Bates Motel”, which is being conceived as a six-episode mini-season that, should it prove popular, will lead to additional seasons.
“Bates Motel” will give viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates’ psyche developed from his childhood through his teen years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.
This is the second high-profile PSYCHO-related project in the works right now; Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones and James D’Arcy have all recently been cast in ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO. No cast has been announced for “Bates Motel” just yet.
