Ming Na-Wen, best known for her roles on the shows ER, Stargate Universe, and Eureka, has signed on to co-star with Clark Gregg on Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series for Marvel. The actress will play Agent Melinda May, who is described as:
Soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences, Melinda is an ace pilot, a weapons expert and a soldier who can — and has — gone beyond the call of duty.
Whedon is co-writing the pilot with his brother, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen with Marvel’s TV’s Jeph Loeb joining them as executive producer. From the pages (and screen) of THE AVENGERS, Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. is based on the long-existing spy and peacekeeping agency that engages supervillain threats from all over the world.
So, that’s two castmembers down, with no word on how many more will be added, but one thing is for sure; with those already involved this is sure to be one of the hottest shows to hit TV when it debuts, likely sometime in 2013-14 on ABC.
