Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge reveals her writing duties on No Time To Die

Having various writers on a project is common practice in the industry but in the case of the upcoming 007 film,  NO TIME TO DIE, one writers specific duties was to put the finishing touches on dialogue to give it the punch it deserved.

Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge recently spoke with "The Independent" and she offered up some clarity on what her duties were when it came to adding to the script:

"I was asked to do dialogue polishes and to offer things really. It's about just offering different alternatives. They did give me some scenes and then be like, can you write some alternatives for this or have another idea about where it could go in the middle or how it would end. And then I would just give them options and various scenes and then they would take what they want. But there was a lot of people writing – the director [Cary Fukunaga] was a writer on it as well. And there'd been a few writers before."

Waller-Bridge also spoke on the subject of how involved actor Daniel Craig is with the writing and development and, according to her, it seems Craig is way more involved than simply just playing the character:

"You know, Daniel [Craig] is really, really involved from the beginning. [I had] so many great conversations with him about it, constantly in touch with him about it. So it's a big sort of melting pot of everybody's ideas the whole time."

It's no surprise why Waller-Bridge was asked to come in and work on dialogue and other story beats. Her work on Fleabag garnered her multiple Emmy wins last fall and made her one of the most sought after rising talents in Hollywood. She also served as the creator of the popular BBC America series Killing Eve and is set to produce more televised content for Amazon in a deal with the service that is said to be worth $20 million. This sounds like someone you want on your creative team in any capacity.

NO TIME TO DIE will. up five years after the capture of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, with James Bond having left active service. Bond is approached by Felix Leiter, his friend and a CIA officer, who enlists his help in the search for Valdo Obruchev, a missing scientist. When it becomes apparent that Obruchev was abducted, Bond must confront a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before. The film also stars Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph WaltzRalph FiennesRami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, and Billy Magnussen.
