Five Nights at Freddy’s creator confirms major sequel is coming

FIVE NIGHT'S AT FREDDY'S might be one of the most popular horror videogames out right now. With its undeniably creepy character designs, its byzantine and cryptic storytelling, and its addictive – as well as terrifying – gameplay mechanic, it's no surprise that it's gotten as popular as it has. The game itself is about

The fictional Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a pastiche of pizza restaurants such as Chuck E. Cheese's and ShowBiz Pizza Place. The player is a nighttime security guard in the first three games, who must use several tools (such as checking security cameras) and survive animatronic characters which become mobile and homicidal after hours.

The FNaP series has also amassed about six sequels and four spin-offs over the years (as well as books, toys, and an upcoming feature film from Blumhouse and director Chris Columbus). And now it seems another major videogame sequel is on the way, which was unfortunately leaked by images of FNaP merchandise on Amazon, Instagram, and Toywiz (which were all recently taken down). However, the images have survived the take-downs, and show the FNaP characters in glam rock attire:

Meanwhile, on Reddit, FIVE NIGHT'S AT FREDDY'S creator Scott Cawthon wrote about the unfortunate leaks, and confirmed the upcoming release of the sequel (as well as debunking the previous claim that it was going to be called "PIZZAPLEX"):

So, I woke up to a barrage of upsetting emails.

For this fanbase, the day a major corporation spoiled the next major release of the FNAF franchise was the most important day of their lives. But for me, it was Friday.

But seriously, this is obviously very frustrating for me, but not that surprising anymore. It's just another day in the life of FNAF. It makes me really miss the days of just making everything myself and handling everything myself, because at least then I had someone I could trust, and even then, sometimes I’d let myself down by spoiling something!!!

I am sorry to everyone though. This isn’t the way I wanted to introduce the characters. I wish they’d at least used the finished artwork, or even the finished concept art. Instead they uploaded a low-res, de-saturated, compressed, watermarked, thumbnail of concept art that they photoshopped together themselves. 😛

Obviously, I’m disappointed, but trust me when I say that Steel Wool is on top of things. The game itself is looking amazing. 🙂
