First trailer for David Ayer’s Sabotage starring Schwarzenegger looks like a real hoot

Arnold Schwarzenegger continues his journey back into the good graces of action fandom with his next entry, SABOTAGE, and it may be just the vehicle to get him over the hump. Directed by David Ayer, who is known for his gritty, violent style with such films as HARSH TIMES, STREET KINGS, and END OF WATCH, the film has a nice ensemble cast to plus up Arnold’s considerable clout, including Joe Manganiello, Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Olivia Williams, Max Martini, Josh Holloway, and Mireille Enos. There’s plenty of gunfire and shit talk abound, so settle in and let the sparks fly.

Don’t blow your balls off:

Here’s the synopsis:

In “Sabotage”, Arnold Schwarzenegger leads an elite DEA task force that takes on the world’s deadliest drug cartels. When the team successfully executes a high-stakes raid on a cartel safe house, they think their work is done – until, one-by-one, the team members mysteriously start to be eliminated. As the body count rises, everyone is a suspect.

Y’know, this just looks like a good damn time. Yeah, it’s got a lot of silly-sounding dialogue and standard set-up, but I’m in this for Ayer’s hard-edged characters and some brutal ultraviolence with Arnold and company. I think it was a smart choice for the aging action star and there’s a lot of room for him to loosen up a bit and get back to the old-school RAW DEAL/COMMANDO days with this. Hopefully, it will end with him rescuing his family and flying away in a seaplane with rock music playing underneath. One can hope.

SABOTAGE starts blowing shit up on April 11, 2014.
