Seemingly every horror franchise under the sun is getting some sort of reboot, remake or sequel that ignores all that came after the first, so why not tackle the CHILD’S PLAY series? The remake will give the murderous doll-come-to-life Chucky a makeover while taking away none of his lust for blood, and finally, the first trailer is here to tease plenty of clever kills at the hands of his plastic…hands. This all could’ve been avoided had Aubrey Plaza’s character just got her son a bunny.

Ah, yes, I know what you’re thinking/screaming to the heavens: We finally get a trailer, but they don’t show Chucky’s face. Yep, it seems like the studio has pulled a real VENOM and seems to be waiting for later to reveal the character’s full new look and creepy voice. While that is a major drag, at least we get to get a taste of some of the kills, including what looks like an incredibly elaborate SAW-esque setup that Plaza finds herself in at the end. From this small look the movie looks pretty cool, but again, this is all a story meant to prove why you should just buy your kids iPads.
Directed by Lars Klevber (POLAROID) and written by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury), CHILD'S PLAY also stars Brian Tyree Henry, Gabriel Bateman, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke and is in theaters June 21.
