First trailer for Bad Boys TV spin-off L.A.’s Finest explodes onto the scene

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Whatcha gonna do when Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba come for you as Special Agent Syd Burnett and Nancy McKenna, respectively, for Spectrum's female-led BAD BOYS spin-off, L.A.'S FINEST? I'll tell you what I'd do. I'd throw my hands up in the air and get on my knees, because these ladies look as if they're not messing around in the upcoming law enforcement action-drama TV series.

Set for a Monday, May 13 premiere, L.A.'S FINEST is set to kick off Charter Communications’ premium content enterprise Spectrum Originals. The anticipated series is penned by writers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier, and looks to serve as an action-packed leadup to BAD BOYS FOR LIFE, the long-awaited franchise sequel starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

Here's the official synopsis for  L.A.'S FINEST:

The series follows Burnett (Union), who last was seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel. She now has left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom with an equally complex past, Burnett is pushed to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret. These two women don’t agree on much, but they find common ground when it comes to taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles.

As per the show's release schedule, three chapters of the 13-episode series will be made available exclusively to Spectrum video subscribers free On Demand (ad-free) on May 13, with new episodes set to air every Monday until the explosive finale. Word has it that the show's pilot episode was among one of the most expensive produced this season, having cost the studio a staggering $12 million to complete. Joining Union and Alba for the ball-busting, quip-tastic action series are Zack Gilford as Ben Walker and Duane Martin as Ben Baines. Ryan McPartlin also stars as Patrick McKenna, while Sophie Reynolds arrives as Isabel "Izzy" McKenna, alongside Ernie Hudson as Joseph Vaughn.

L.A.'S FINEST is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, and 2.0 Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television. If you're at all hyped for the long-awaited return of the BAD BOYS franchise, L.A.'S FINEST looks to be … well, a fine place to start.

Be there on May 13th for when the action kicks off.
