According to the early reactions, THOR: RAGNAROK is apparently amazing in every way. Maybe this is just the anticipation and excitement fueling everything, or the adrenaline of getting to see something like this before anyone else, but one aspect of the film that seemed universally indisputable among the critics is that the movie is constantly, deliriously, absurdly hilarious. Everyone gets a good joke in, from Thor to Loki and the not-jolly-green-giant, Hulk. To prove this even further, a new clip from the movie has dropped featuring the beginning of the fight between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and the laughs are aplenty as Hulk basks in cheers, Thor responds in joyful disbelief and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is frozen in utter fear of Hulk’s smashing abilities.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY has held dominion over the zany humor aspect of the MCU, but I think THOR 3 will certainly give those movies a run for their money. Taika Waititi has this knack of letting clashing personalities play out in funny ways, whether it be WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS or HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE, that allows the humor to just pour out of a situation. This is just one example of how he's meshed this quirky sense of humor with massive spectacle, and I can't wait to see more when the movie arrives next month.
THOR: RAGNAROK arrives November 3.
