First spanish-language trailer for Manuel Carballo’s The Returned

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard anything about Manuel Carballo’s (EXORCISMUS) latest film, THE RETURNED. We first shared the news of the film back in February of 2011, when Carballo and company were announcing the project (you can peep that HERE), and in May of 2012 we told you about the film hitting Cannes (see that story HERE). According to the films IMDB page, THE RETURNED is still in post-production, but it shouldn’t be much longer until it is unleashed upon the world. The film, which is set in a post-zombie world where the infected live normal lives and soon find that their retroviral drug is running out, had been gaining a lot of buzz during its pre-production and filming, but it’s been kind of quiet on THE RETURNED’s front since then.

That all changes today as we finally have a look at the film courtesy its first trailer, which we have for you below. Haven’t brushed up on your Spanish skills, lately? Not to worry, as the trailer is easy enough to follow. Besides, horror is an international language all its own, right? Check out the trailer for THE RETURNED below.

Kate works at the hospital in the Return Unit, helping those who have been infected by the virus that turns people into zombies. Kate’s dedication to her work is absolute, but few people realize that for her it is also a personal matter; Kate’s own husband, Jason, has been returned.

After various brutal and prolific attacks at the hands of Anti-Return groups and rumors that the “Protein” stock is running dangerously low, Kate fears for Jason´s safety. Suspicious of the government’s order that all the returned should report to a secure medical facility ‘for their own safety’, the couple decides to flee, taking with them all the doses of “Return Protein” they have. At no point does the couple imagine that the real threat is a lot closer than they think…

No word on when we’ll be seeing THE RETURNED as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted on the news as we hear it.
