20th Century Fox is gearing up to release the first trailer for their upcoming drama FORD V. FERRARI from director James Mangold (LOGAN, WALK THE LINE), and to signal its release the studio dropped the first poster featuring stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale. The studio announced (via Twitter) that the trailer will debut during Game 2 of the NBA finals on Sunday, so if you haven’t got your racing caps to put on by then, best get to the cap store post haste.

After being in development for years, Mangold was brought on to direct the racing drama last year with a script by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth and Jason Keller. The story centers on Damon’s Carroll Shelby, a car designer tasked with building a car for Ford Motor Company that could beat the Ferrari model at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans in France. Bale plays Ken Miles, the British driver set to race the car during the event, with Tracy Letts and Jon Bernthal playing Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca, respectively.
You can check out the poster below, which favors a minimalist design that utilizes a large portion of white space to draw the eye down to Damon and Bale. This poster comes on the heels of several stills from the movie dropping earlier this month.

The first footage for the movie debuted at CinemaCon this year and blew the doors off, building up a hefty amount of anticipation for the movie in the process. Our own Paul Shirey praised the footage during his recap, and between his and other reactions out of the convention the movie is poised to be a major contender this awards season. The poster itself is terrific, and while that's hardly a sign of a good movie, it does a perfect job of making this one of the must-see movies of the fall season.
FORD V FERRARI is in theaters November 15.
