First cast photo for Star Trek: Discovery will boldly take you to new worlds

STAR TREK fans are most likely clinging to their replica phasers in giddy anticipation for the new series, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. Loyal series die-hards will have to wait for the premiere date to see all the new characters in action, but you cos-players can get an early jump on costume ideas now that the first official cast photo has dropped featuring Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou and Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham.

Take a look and set phasers to “hmmm….interesting.”

The image shows the two characters on an unknown, possibly very sandy planet, with Green sporting some very old-school TREK tech on her belt. The show acts as a prequel to the 1966 series, so Green will probably be rocking any gear that crew had, like the classic flip communicator. The classics are coolest for a reason, even though this version fo the communicator doesn’t have Bluetooth or a headphone jack.

It’s not much to go on at all, but it’s a cool start for what could be an onslaught of images and teasers headed our way. There’s still plenty more to see, such as the rest of the cast including Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca, James Frain as, Sarek, Spock’s father, Doug Jones Lt. Saru, and Anthony Rapp (Rent) as Lt. Stamets.  These guys all have a long and notable careers, but they better be prepared to do nothing but show up at fan conventions for the rest of their lives.
