A new trailer has been released for HARDCORE HENRY (formerly known as just HARDCORE), and although it isn't as bloody as the first one, it does contain some awesome new footage from the first-person POV actioner. The trailer starts off a bit serious, but it takes a more playful tone around the halfway mark, with some assistance by Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now." Directed by Ilya Naishuller of "Bad Motherf*cker" fame, the upcoming movie stars Sharlto Copley (DISTRICT 9), Danila Kozlovsky (VAMPIRE ACADEMY) and Haley Bennett (THE EQUALIZER), and was produced by DAY WATCH and WANTED director Timur Bekmambetov.
"I wanna make a supersonic man out of you."
Synopsis:
You remember nothing. Mainly because you've just been brought back from the dead by your wife. She tells you that your name is Henry and congratulations, you're now a cyborg.
5 minutes later, your wife has been kidnapped and you should probably go get her back. Who's got her? His name's Akan (Kozlovsky), he's just a psychotic megalomaniac with telekinetic powers, and a never-ending army of mercenaries. You're also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, Russia and everyone wants you dead. Everyone, except for a mysterious, British fellow called Jimmy (Copley). He might be on your side. Good luck Henry. You're very much likely to need it. Oh, did I tell you that your battery is quickly running out?
Chris Bumbray gave the film a mixed review (6/10) after checking it out at TIFF 2015, however did say it's "absolutely stupid, but it's also a heck of a lot of fun," and that "while the dodgy CGI of the opening scenes might worry more skeptical audience members, once the carnage starts it's pretty hard not to be impressed by some of the set-pieces, with crazy, far-out sequences involving tanks, massive shootouts with AK-47's, flame-throwers and more, as well as a few really well-designed first-person punch ups." How do you think casual moviegoers will react to HARDCORE HENRY?
HARDCORE HENRY will hit theaters on April 8, 2016.
