If you're a HELLBOY fan, and happen to be traveling down Wilshire Boulevard in Los, Angeles, California, you're going to want to keep your eyes peeled for a building that houses the first banner for Neil Marshall and David Harbour's upcoming film. The banner was designed by writer-artist Mike Mignola, whose Hellboy character made his first appearance in the pages of Dime Press #4 in March of 1993. On the poster, we see Big Red, smoking boomstick in-hand, striking a pose that says he's ready for action. Also featured on the banner is the villain of the upcoming film, Nimue aka The Blood Queen, set to be played by THE FIFTH ELEMENT and RESIDENT EVIL franchise actress Milla Jovovich. In fact, it was Millia who first shared the photo of the banner online with all of her fans, which you can check out for yourself below:
When Marhsall's HELLBOY rises from the depths and storms into theaters, David Harbour, as Hellboy, will be joined by Ian McShane, who will star as Big Red's adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm (aka Professor Broom). Also set to appear in the film is Sasha Lane (AMERICAN HONEY) as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, HEMLOCK GROVE) as the elder witch Ganeida, and Daniel Dae Kim (LOST), who will step into the role of Major Ben Daimio.
While plot details related to the film as scarce, we do know that Hellboy will find himself caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, as he's forced to battle an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. Neil Marshall will direct the R-rated superhero action adventure written by Andrew Cosby (EUREKA), Christopher Golden, as well as the character's creator, Mike Mignola.
What do you think of the new banner? Are you excited to know that Mignola is working hand-in-hand with the film's creative team to make certain that this reboot kicks ass? Do you think Harbour will make for the perfect Big Red, or can no one ever replace the might and power of the character's original actor, Ron Perlman?
