Production on the final entry in the MAZE RUNNER series – MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE – was indefinitely halted after leading man Dylan O'Brien suffered a horrible accident during a stunt gone wrong. The actor has since rallied back, and the movie continued filming and is all set for January 26, 2018. We now have the first look at the film courtesy of Buzzfeed, who managed to get a hold of the first photos of the movie as a reward for escaping the Journalist Death Maze. Our thoughts go out to the other fallen journalists.
Check them out below, featuring actors O’Brien, Giancarlo Esposito, Patricia Clarkson and Kaya Scodelario:
Directed by Wes Ball, this final entry in the series will find Thomas (O'Brien) leading his team of escaped Gladers to the legendary Last City, a massive WCKD-operated maze that turns out to be the deadliest of all the mazes. Those who make it out alive will get answers to the questions they seek, like how and why it is they found themselves running through all these mazes. As well, THE DEATH CURE Twitter page posted a pic announcing that the first trailer for the movie would be dropping soon, so you can keep your eyes peeled for that nifty piece of footage.

O'Brien must be one tough, committed dude to be able to recover and soldier on to the final film like this, especially given how bad they said his injuries were. You can't help but have a ton of respect for the guy. However, will I see the movie? Most likely not. I couldn't care less about the YA film series just like I have no love for the DIVERGENT series, or even HUNGER GAMES by the end. Granted, MAZE RUNNER is of better quality than TWILIGHT or DIVERGENT, but I still can't find myself caring about the story, setting, etc. But it has its fans, and I'm sure those fans will be happier than a fluffy puppy to finally get this final act.
MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE hits January 26 and also stars Barry Pepper, Will Poulter and GAME OF THRONES' Aidan Gillen, Nathalie Emmanuel and Thomas Brodie-Sangster
